On May 19, from noon till 5, the largest Japanese festival in a several state area takes place at the Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne , Indiana. It’s a 100-mile drive from Toledo- well worth it.
They’ve been holding it for eleven years, and have a stunning variety of activities. Musicians play traditional instruments, including a koto ensemble from Chicago. Kazume Mitzuki, a famous dancer, will be returning this year for another performance, along with folk dance groups.
There’s a full range of vendors selling anime DVDs and collectibles, along with craft items. Ohio Kimono will be there with a huge selection of new & used kimono & yukata to see and try on.
Outside are Japanese food vendors, Taiko performances, a full range of kids activities including the goldfish catch you see in anime temple festivals, and cosplay and Karaoke contetsts.
